X HELPING HANDS
Welcome to X Helping Hands — a community-focused platform founded in 2022 to provide information, resources, and support for newcomers in Antigonish and Pictou County, Nova Scotia. Our focus is on youth, including international students, immigrants, refugees, and racialized or equity-deserving individuals who bring valuable skills, lived experiences, and resilience, yet often face isolation and barriers to full participation in their new communities.

This project seeks to reduce isolation, amplify newcomer voices, and foster leadership by creating inclusive spaces for storytelling, skill-sharing, and civic engagement.

We warmly invite newcomers—including international students at StFX, migrants, and refugees in Antigonish and Pictou County—to share their experiences with housing, budgeting, part-time work, culture shock, homesickness, food security, academics, and mental and physical health. We also welcome stories from community members who have supported newcomers in making Antigonish and Pictou County their “home away from home.”

If you’re interested in participating, you can reach us at team@xhelpinghands.com or submit a request through our website’s contact page. Stories may be shared through interviews, written or verbal conversations, or videography. We also respect your choice to remain anonymous, if you prefer.
For any questions, please connect with Tavneet at team@xhelpinghands.com. We would love to hear from you!
